At Relong, we begin our bronze Mary sculptures with a full-size clay model, giving careful attention to the face, hands and folds of the robes. We then use lost-wax casting and finish the bronze with patina or hand-painted colors to suit your project.

Inside our workshop
For us, the expression of the statue starts in clay. Our sculptors work at the intended scale to capture the features and proportions before the design moves into casting.
Our dedicated religious artists model the face, hands, robes and religious elements at full size. We understand that parishes in different countries may have different requirements for posture and symbolism. During clay modeling, we communicate with you through successive detail reviews and refine the model until you are satisfied with the agreed details.
We use the lost-wax method to cast the sculpture, then carry out the joining, surface work and detailed finishing needed to carry the modeled form into bronze.
A patina brings out the bronze surface, while hand-painted colors offer another expression of the design. We discuss the palette with you so the finished statue suits your sacred space.

Bronze • Senegal • 2024
For this project in Senegal, the client wanted Mary to have a more lifelike appearance. Relong handled the design, production, hand painting and transportation of the 1.7-meter (approximately 67-inch) bronze sculpture.
We first combined the client’s descriptions with 3D renderings to develop the color direction. During finishing, our artists painted selected areas for the client to review. Once those colors were confirmed, we continued the hand painting across the sculpture.
The installation photographs show the statue inside a protective enclosure. This is an important part of this project’s display conditions; for other outdoor locations, we discuss exposure and finish care individually.

This church project included a marble Virgin Mary, a marble Pietà and a small marble fountain. The client’s photographs show how the pieces sit within the church grounds.

For painted work, we develop the direction from your description and 3D renderings. Selected areas are painted for your confirmation before our artists proceed with the wider hand-painted finish.
Please raise design changes during model review. Changes requested after casting or finishing need to be assessed for their effect on cost and timing.
